NEPBA Denounces Fraud and Threats, Stands Firmly Behind Billerica Police

Apr 6, 2026

The New England Police Benevolent Association (NEPBA) is aware of the troubling incident reported in the Town of Billerica involving fraudulent solicitation calls and subsequent threats made against a resident and his family.

Let us be absolutely clear: these actions are reprehensible, criminal, and have zero connection to the dedicated men and women of the Billerica Police Department or their union.

The facts matter. The Billerica Police Union has already confirmed that any prior relationship with its former fundraising vendor, TCI America, has been terminated. There are no authorized fundraising calls being conducted on behalf of the union at this time. Any individual claiming otherwise is acting fraudulently and should be treated as such.

We have full confidence that the Billerica Police Department is aggressively investigating this matter and will pursue all available avenues to identify and hold those responsible accountable.

Unfortunately, incidents like this are designed to do more than defraud, they aim to erode public trust in law enforcement and the organizations that support them. We will not allow bad actors to exploit the good name of police professionals for personal gain.

The NEPBA stands firmly with the Billerica Police Department and its union members. Their reputations have been built on service, integrity, and commitment to their community, values that stand in stark contrast to the conduct described in this incident.

We urge residents to remain vigilant, verify any solicitation requests, and report suspicious activity immediately. Public awareness is critical in preventing these types of scams.

We will continue to monitor this situation closely and support a full and transparent investigation. Those responsible must, and will, be held accountable.
