NEPBA Proudly Endorses Mike Minogue for Governor of Massachusetts

Sep 15, 2026

The New England Police Benevolent Association is proud to announce our strong endorsement of Mike Minogue for Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

At a time when the men and women of law enforcement are being asked to do more with fewer resources, when departments across Massachusetts continue to confront serious recruitment and retention challenges, and when public safety professionals too often feel that their voices are an afterthought on Beacon Hill, Massachusetts needs a Governor who understands that safe communities begin with supporting the people who protect them.

NEPBA believes Mike Minogue is that leader.

Mike has built his life around service, leadership and accountability. A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Mike served as an Infantry Officer in the United States Army and earned the Bronze Star for his service during Operation Desert Storm. He later spent nearly two decades leading Massachusetts-based Abiomed, helping build an innovative company, create jobs and develop lifesaving medical technology.

Whether leading soldiers or thousands of employees, Mike understands something that resonates deeply with our membership: leadership means taking responsibility for the people you are entrusted to lead.

His commitment to public safety is equally clear.

Mike has made keeping Massachusetts communities safe a central pillar of his campaign. He has committed to removing violent criminals and drug dealers from our communities, restoring accountability to the Parole Board, supporting cooperation between law enforcement agencies, and seeking stronger consequences for those who commit acts of violence against police officers.

We recognize that other law enforcement organizations have chosen a different direction in this race. We respect their right to make that decision. NEPBA has chosen to look forward.

Our endorsement is not based on political convenience, access, or preserving the status quo. It is based on where we believe Massachusetts must go from here and which candidate we believe is prepared to confront the challenges our members experience every day.

For NEPBA, being present for law enforcement is appreciated. Standing up for law enforcement when the decisions are difficult is what matters.

Massachusetts cannot simply accept chronic staffing shortages, forced overtime, deteriorating morale and an increasingly difficult environment for recruiting and retaining the next generation of police officers as the new normal.

Our members deserve more than recognition. They deserve results.

That is why this endorsement is also about the future of the law enforcement profession.

We want Massachusetts to be a place where qualified men and women once again want to become police officers; where experienced officers want to remain on the job; and where those who dedicate their careers to protecting others know that their government will stand behind them.

Mike Minogue has demonstrated that he understands those challenges and, more importantly, is prepared to listen to the law enforcement professionals experiencing them every day.

This election presents Massachusetts with a choice about what kind of leadership we expect from the Governor’s Office. NEPBA is supporting a candidate who has led in the military, led in business, created jobs, solved difficult problems and has made accountability and public safety fundamental priorities of his campaign.

Our more than 5,000 members throughout New England know what leadership looks like. They demonstrate it every day when they put on the uniform and report for duty.

We believe Mike Minogue will bring that same commitment to service, accountability and results to the Governor’s Office.

The New England Police Benevolent Association is proud to stand with Mike Minogue, and we strongly encourage our members, their families and supporters of law enforcement across Massachusetts to support him for Governor.
