Off Duty NEPBA Member helps injured man on Interstate

HARTFORD, Vt. – Vermont State Police (VSP) are looking for a driver who hit a man standing in the breakdown lane of Interstate 89 Monday.

Police say it happened just before 2:30 p.m. on June 7, 2021when a 25-year-old man pulled over into the breakdown lane on I-89 south in Hartford. The driver got out of his car and was standing on the right side of the road next to the median. Police say another vehicle hit the man and took off, leaving behind their side-view mirror. Windsor Officer Chris Hoar came across the man who had just been hit by the motor vehicle on the interstate. The individual was on the ground unable to move and in the passing lane of the interstate. Officer Hoar stopped his personal vehicle, call VSP, and rendered aid until Hartford EMS and VSP arrived.

The driver that was hit was taken to near by hospital and remains in stable condition.
